Our horizontal saw allows us to cut polyurethane foam buns into sheets or directly into end-products. Featuring an automated 132 inch table that pulls the bulk foam through the 3/4 inch wide blade, this horizontal saw can handle foam buns as tall as 51 inches and as wide as 88 inches, though the average bun size runs closer to 40 inches tall and 76 inches wide. Depending on equipped features, this machine can weigh anywhere from 4,500 to 6,000 pounds.
True to its name, the horizontal saw cuts along a flat plane with no blade articulation. Using this saw, we are able to cut sheets as thin as 1/2 of an inch, and adjust the blade by as little as .004 inches. Products most often produced by this machine include custom cushions and mattresses. Foam Factory also sells pre-cut sheets to upholsterers and other businesses. Additionally, many products begin on the horizontal foam saw, and are then refined to final measurements on vertical saws or computer numerical control (CNC) machines.
